Awaken the Reflex
But to let the language 'move' again.
What state should you be in right now?
If you just started using Echo, then you are perfectly normal.
Not understanding is normal.
Feeling no change is normal.
Not knowing what you are doing is also normal.
There is only one most important thing in this stage:
When is it considered a success?
One day, you will suddenly experience the following feelings:
- Knowing the next sentence is coming soon
- Before the sound even appears, you are already waiting for it
- When you hear the second foreign language audio, you feel like you are about to speak it out
- Even your mouth is already prepared
If this feeling appears, it means your language reflex is starting to awaken.
Congratulations, you are approaching the next stage.
What if I don't have this feeling yet?
Don't change anything.
Keep listening.
Keep looping.
Keep letting the sound pass through your ears.
Don't chase the feeling.
Don't test yourself.
The reflex isn't squeezed out by effort.
It will appear on its own.
Why do we do this?
Many people think:
Language is memorized.
Actually, language is more like a reaction.
When a sound becomes familiar enough, the brain starts to predict it.
And prediction is the signal that a reflex is beginning to form.
Echo's first stage trains exactly this process.
What is the actual role of N (Native Language)?
Many people think the native language in the middle is for translation.
Actually, it's not.
It's more like an igniter.
When the native language appears, the most familiar language system in the brain is activated.
The foreign language that follows enters the reflex system using this power.
Therefore:
T → N → T
Is not a translation structure.
But an ignition structure.
Most common mistakes
- Constantly pausing
- Constantly analyzing
- Constantly translating
- Constantly looking at the screen
- Constantly testing yourself on how much you remember
- Always wanting to enter the next stage quickly
All of these will break the rhythm.
And the most important thing in this stage is exactly the rhythm.
If you don't know what you should do right now:
Keep playing.
If you doubt whether you are making progress:
Keep playing.
If you feel like nothing is happening:
Keep playing.
When the language starts moving, you will know it.
